Who We Are Organics In America, S.A. is the largest international importer of Fine Organic & Natural products in America. OIA is committed to bringing the finest organics at the best price to the America's. Why Choose Organics in America? If you want to export your products to the most affluent organics market in Central America, Organics in America is the best choice. OIA does the paperwork necessary to register a product with the Ministry of Health, including all Spanish translations of ingredients and nutritionals. OIA works with the vendors to acquire the necessary documentation. We order, process the paperwork for each shipment, receive products, label them individually with Spanish information, and deliver to the stores. Our dedicated staff follows up with display work, inventory control, and ordering. OIA also educates the target buyers and consumers. OIA is Growing with Expansive Velocity OIA started with 30 products. Today we have tripled our product line and we are now set to more than double that. Our sales have increased 99% over the last two years. We have added new outlets, including another supermarket chain and several resort hotels in Guanacaste. This area is rapidly developing as a major residential and resort area. New Markets OIA recognized an opportunity to service the health conscious sector of the tourist industry in 2005. We are providing healthy snack alternatives to the Hospitality Industry for rooms, mini-bars, day tour lunches & snacks, hotel gift & snack shops, and beach area stores. Why Costa Rica? The market continues to be strong for organic foods. New organic laws supporting the development of organic farmers have again put organics in the spotlight here. Currently, there is a limited variety and supply of organic products to satisfy the local markets. 90% of the organic products grown in Costa Rica are for export. A National Initiative While Costa Rica is known around the world for its environmental policies, in reality, its food does not meet those ideals. This has spawned a national initiative to restore the quality of food available for consumers. The Comptroller General of Costa Rica has recognized that the residue levels of pesticides, herbicides, and/or fungicides in much of the food grown locally is radically above the legal limits in this country. He has issued orders to find ways to decrease this. At the same time, Costa Ricans have the second highest rate of stomach cancers in the world, along with toxic iron anemia. Growing Demand for Organics Because of this public discussion, more and more people are looking for immediate changes for their families, and this leads them to search for organic foods. At the same time, the largest supermarket chains are wanting more organic offerings to attract these consumers. There is not much offered locally. What is grown in abundance organically is exported for the most part. Consumers here are sophisticated and aware of the cleanliness of their food, as they are of the natural beauty of their country. Environmental consciousness is high. Cable and satellite television from around the world (US, Spain, Italy, China, Chile, England, and France) bring stories about organic foods, illnesses and deaths to poor farmers from pesticide and herbicide use, and lawsuits against corporate agriculture. Many people in this area come from poor agricultural families. They have sick family members, often caused by the use of dangerous farm chemicals. Our Clients Our largest client, AutoMercado (aka Alonso & CIA) will finish the expansion of the number of stores in 2007 which will increase its high-end stores by 50%. This will be a significant sales boost. Our second largest is Wal-Mart Central America. Walmart has contacted us to purchase more of our products. In February 2007 they announced a $49 million expansion to add 14 high-end stores in Costa Rica. Our third largest client, Pricesmart, has stores in several Central American countries, and has seen more interest in organic. They are also building new locations. OIA is in 2 of the other 3 major supermarket chains here, and sells approximately 100 locations. On the Horizon OIA is expanding our warehouse/office facilities with retail shopping/display room and expanded delivery fleet. Research is underway to find existing organics as well as developing farmers and products for export. We have local and organic farm contacts in Costa Rica and Nicaragua looking for markets here and for export. OIA will be developing the markets for them. As the result of inquiries from other Central American countries who would like to purchase products in our current lines, OIA is exploring the process of registering for each country. These markets, especially Panama, offer tremendous new outlets for our current and future products as well. We expect to begin sales there in 2008.
